How to use the Wordle Helper

  1. Enter your guess. Type the same five letters you played in Wordle, using your keyboard or the one on screen.
  2. Match the colors. Tap each tile to switch between gray, yellow and green until the row looks exactly like your game.
  3. Press Enter. The helper instantly counts how many words still fit and prepares four levels of hints.
  4. Reveal only what you need. Start with the letters worth testing. If you're still stuck, reveal a strategy tip, then a suggested guess, and finally the possible words.

Why a helper instead of a solver?

Most solvers simply hand you the answer. That ends the puzzle, but it also removes the fun. This helper is built around progressive hints: each one gives you a little more information while leaving the final decision to you. Over a few games you'll start to recognize good guesses on your own.

When you just want the full picture, switch to the Wordle Solver to see every possible answer and the top-ranked guesses side by side.

How the next-guess suggestions are chosen

For every candidate guess, the helper simulates the colors you would see against each word that still fits, and measures how evenly those outcomes split the list. That measure — expected information, in bits — rewards guesses that leave you with the fewest words on average. Words that are more common in everyday English get a higher chance of being the answer, so likely answers rise to the top and obscure dictionary words fade out.

Frequently asked questions

How does this Wordle helper work?

Type the word you played, tap each tile until it matches the colors Wordle gave you, and press Enter. The helper keeps only the 5-letter words that would produce exactly those colors, then ranks letters and next guesses by how much they would narrow the list down.

Will it spoil today's answer?

Not unless you want it to. Hints are revealed one at a time: first the letters worth testing, then a strategy tip, then a suggested guess, and only at the last step the list of possible words. The helper never looks up the official answer — it only reasons from the clues you enter.

What do green, yellow and gray mean?

Green means the letter is in the word and in the right spot. Yellow means the letter is in the word but somewhere else. Gray means the letter is not in the word — or, if the same letter appears twice in your guess, that the word doesn't contain another copy of it.

How are repeated letters handled?

Exactly like the game. If you guess a word with two E's and only one is colored, the helper knows the answer contains exactly one E. Each pattern is checked letter by letter, so double letters never confuse the results.

What is the difference between the Helper and the Solver?

The Helper gives progressive hints so you still solve the puzzle yourself. The Wordle Solver shows everything at once: the top ranked guesses with their expected information and the complete list of possible answers.

Does it support Hard Mode?

Yes. Turn on Hard mode under the keyboard and every suggestion will reuse your green letters in place and include all yellow letters, as the game requires.

Is this the official Wordle site?

No. Wordle Helper is an independent tool and is not affiliated with The New York Times. Play the daily puzzle on the official Wordle site, then come here when you want a nudge.
